The World Will Soon Have A New

Rising to 550 meters, the Burj Jumeira will be both Dubai’s and the world’s tallest building upon completion, besting the reigning champion, the Burj Khalifa. Revealed by state-owned entity Dubai Holding, the impossibly tall skyscraper has been coined the “new icon in Dubai’s skyline”.

Standing higher than New York’s 541-metre One World Trade Center, the Burj Jumeira’s oval-shaped foundation is based on Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s fingerprint. The marvelous structure will form the heart of Dubai’s newest prestige project, hosting the city’s premier “social, cultural and artistic events and activities”.

The building’s exterior will have a digital display to light up the entirety of the tower. This interactive design carries through to the interior, with additional digital features on the tower’s observation decks and the opportunity to skydive thrown in for good measure. The Burj Jumeira will be connected to the Sharaf DG Metro Station from a covered pathway, which will also extend to the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, a hotel on an artificial island 280 metres from Jumeirah Beach. As work on the Burj Jumeira began on 31 January 2019, the tower is only expected to reach its first phase of completion by 2023.
