The Macallan's New Distillery is a Work of Architectural Art

Situated close to the stunning mountains of Speyside, the brand new, revolutionary The Macallan distillery is the staggering result of a £500 million investment by the Edrington Group. The brainchild of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, the innovative designers responsible for London’s Millenium Dome, this eye-pleasing Macallan distillery further ingrains the brand’s status as the globe’s leading luxury whisky brand.

The building has been renovated into a state-of-the-art establishment that will no doubt draw quite the crowd. The distillery makes up to a third more whisky than its precursor, thanks to the 36 new copper stills constructed by Forsyths, who has been The Macallan’s partner-in-crime since its modest start in the 50s.

Edrington’s chief executive, Ian Curle, enthuses, “This is an exciting occasion for Edrington and The Macallan. The unsurpassed quality of The Macallan is in high demand and we face the future confidently with this new distillery. It’s an authentic, abiding, ambitious investment that will match consumer expectations for generations to come.”

Curle is sure the new distillery will blow people’s minds. “When the doors open in June, we expect this new Macallan enterprise to deliver significant benefits for the tourism industry, Scotch whisky exports, and the economy.”
