Swiss Environmental Tech Startup Gjosa Gets Boost From L’Oréal Investment

In March, L’Oréal announced a minority investment in Swiss environmental tech startup Gjosa, courtesy of its corporate venture capital fund BOLD Business Opportunities for L’Oréal Development.

Gjosa develops unique water-saving solutions from its base in Bienne, Switzerland. The two companies have been working together since 2015 to optimize shampoo rinse technologies with the goal of saving water. In 2018, L’Oréal and Gjosa announced the development of a showerhead capable of rinsing shampoo with 1.5 litres of water (as opposed to the usual amount of 8 litres). At CES in January 2021, L’Oréal and Gjosa presented the L’Oréal Water Saver, a sustainable haircare system for the salon and at-home beauty routine.
