Mind-blowing, 350-foot Man-made Waterfall at the Center of a City

Liebian Building is the newest structure on the skyline of Guiyang, China. It’s also one of the most striking because it boasts a 350-foot high waterfall right down its middle. The majestic cascade seems to come from a window and flow down the glassy face and into a pool at the base.

According to The Times, folks thought a pipe had burst before realising that it was a stunning 120-metre tall water feature that needs to be seen to be believed. The waterfall uses recycled rain and tap water in a large tank that’s been syphoned up to eject from the side of the building again. Though the water is said to be recycled, questions remain as to the electricity cost of keeping a waterfall up and running – which apparently reaches an estimated US$116 per hour.

The owners have since announced that the waterfall will only be turned on periodically and on special occasions.
