Breitling's Robust Re-Edition Is Your Co-Pilot For Life

In 1953, Breitling released the Ref. 765 AVI — a pilot’s watch coined the “Co-Pilot”. The watch’s decidedly robust appeal and impressive legibility made it a favourite among aviators and timepiece connoisseurs alike. Today, Breitling is paying tribute to this classic chronograph’s legacy with the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition.

This meticulously researched and crafted re-edition of the iconic Co-Pilot is based on one of the early iterations from 1953. The Co-Pilot itself was actually a 1950s interpretation of the onboard clocks designed and produced by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department in the 1930s and 1940s. These have since gone on to inspire the timepieces in the Aviator 8 collection.

The Co-Pilot is also a perfect companion piece to another of Breitling’s legendary watches: the Navitimer. With its popular circular slide rule, which secured the Navitimer’s sterling reputation for flight calculations, and the Co-Pilot’s superior legibility and rugged construction, the two watches stand toe-to-toe as examples of Breitling’s impeccable craftsmanship.
