Air France Testing In-Flight VR Entertainment

Air France has been experimenting with a deeply engaging VR entertainment system. This new system allows passengers to revel in the beauty of 3D and 2D films in their own “private movie theatre” isolated from other passengers. Air France has partnered with the start-up, SkyLights, to try kick-start this new form of in-flight entertainment.

The system has been tested on board Paris-Charles de Gaulle – St. Martin and St. Martin – Paris-Charles de Gaulle flights. While the practical purposes are obvious, it was nonetheless a surprise for the lucky commuters travelling this route.

However, only passengers travelling in Business Class on board the A340 working this route can try this new form of in-flight entertainment. In addition, only four headsets have been installed on board, with a small selection of forty films and series.

Air France has commented that “at the end of this test period, this new system could be rolled out on other flights in the months ahead”. Let’s hope!
