A Macaron Combining Both Art & Taste

Legendary French patisserie, Ladurée, and modern artist, Marina Abramović, proudly revealed their newly designed macaron at Harrods in London. In addition, close to 250 boxes were unveiled from Oct 16-22 at Ladurée Paris on rue de Castiglione and at the Grand Palais for the FIAC International Art Fair.

To infuse some inventiveness and make French-made macarons attractive to world of pastries once more, Raphaël Castoriano, Founder and Creative Director of Krëemart, partnered with Abramović to craft and design this new beautiful macaron.

“What is left behind is the memory of what you eat. What is unique about the taste is the memory that stays in your mouth, the intense experience,” Marina Abramović said.

According to an announcement, Abramović was selected as “the first subject of Pastry Portrait”, to take part in this thrilling “joint endeavor by Ladurée and Castoriano” owing of her “affinity for the intangible and the immaterial.”

“When I said I wanted to have my own taste, they asked me so many questions… what I like, the colours, the smells, the landscapes in nature, the memories of childhood… all of this went into the Pastry Portrait of me,” Abramovic elaborated.

The Prussian Blue box is emblazoned with Abramović’s family crest, depicting “the balance between fragility and strength.” It comes neatly packaged in a limited-edition box of three macarons, with one being wrapped in gold leaf.
